Music Together In the Park
Valley Music Together offers the high-quality music and movement curriculum loved by millions of families and teachers around the world—in the park and from home!
During each class, your favorite teachers will lead activities for you and your whole family to sing, play, and jam along to. We’ll be using songs from the current song collection, and your teacher will show you how to make everyday items like dish towels, pots, and stuffies into musical props! Classes are appropriate for children up to 5 years, and the whole family is welcome (and encouraged!) to participate!
Take home materials include a code to download the current song collection music through our award-winning Hello Everybody app, a hard-copy songbook, a cd, and access to online resources in the Family Music Zone.
Classes will be held outside in the grass at your selected location. In case of inclement weather, class will be held on ZOOM. A text (if you opt in) and an email notification with the ZOOM link will be sent by 8:30am on the day of class. Restrooms are available.
Please bring a water repellent blanket or tarp for your family to sit on. Valley Music Together will NOT be providing any instruments or props, so please put together a bag/basket of instruments and props for you and your child to use for each class. When you register, we’ll provide you with easy DIY instrument and prop ideas.
Family blankets will be spaced far apart, so you and your child do not need to mask when you are on or in the area around your blanket. If your child wanders off, adults, please kindly mask if you need to move close to other families as you direct your child back to your blanket area. If you are not comfortable with unmasked adults and children socially distanced around you, please indicate your interest for a Zoom class.
Mixed Ages Class
Music Together was the first early childhood music program to offer music classes for mixed ages. Child development researchers have known for a long time that the natural, family-style environment of mixed-age classes is the best way for young children to learn. In our experience, it works! Mixed Ages classes offer developmentally appropriate musical experiences for children from birth to age five. Mixed age groupings foster natural, family-style learning where the whole family can participate together. Older children love to show what they know, the younger ones love to watch and imitate, and adults model active, joyful music-making. The relaxed, no-pressure environment lets all kids (and adults!) learn at their own pace. Class activities include singing, moving, listening, observing, and exploring instruments. The wide variety of adult-child activities encourages fun interaction and offers new ways for families to play musically at home. Each session, you will a beautifully illustrated songbook for the current song collection, a music cd, and online song downloads and resources that provide years of exciting musical growth. Parents, grandparents, friends, and caregivers are always welcome to accompany the children. Classes meet for 45 minutes.
Infants nine months and younger at the time of registration may enroll in this one-time introduction to Music Together classes. Activities and materials are specifically designed for parents to learn as much as possible about their infant’s musical development. Families will receive a baby-safe instrument, a music CD, a beautifully illustrated songbook full of activities and ideas, Growth Chart, Parent DVD, and a special information booklet just for babies! Classes meet for 45 minutes. No older siblings, please.

Generations classes foster connections between seniors, parents and children through meaningful and joyful music-making. It’s like having an extra set of grandparents! Activities are much like our mixed-ages classes that engage children, caregivers, and “Grand Friends” in singing, dancing, movement and instrument play. The fun songs, liveliness and laughter brighten everybody’s day. Families with children infants to age 5 are invited to participate in these classes held at a senior living facility. Classes meet for 45 minutes.
